Win Gluten-Free Pretzels!
Tuesday, May 22, 2012
There’s a lot of hubbub and misinformation swarming about Celiac disease. Since May is National Celiac Awareness Month, it’s a great time to understand the basics. Then enter to win delicious gluten-free pretzels by Mary’s Gone Crackers.
What’s Celiac Disease?
Celiac disease is a digestive disorder that damages the lining of the small intestine. As a result, many vitamin and minerals don’t get absorbed properly leading to nutrient deficiencies.
Celiac disease is found in about 1 in every 133 people, with many folks going undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Individuals with Celiac disease don’t have the ability to properly digest gluten, which is a protein found in wheat, rye and barley. If you think you or a loved one may have Celiac disease check out this symptom checklist and bring it to your doctor.
Having to follow a gluten-free diet can be quite challenging. Gluten is found in many foods, as well as in some alcohol, medications, vitamins, and even lipstick. Gluten can be hidden in many processed foods, sauces, and marinades and even in meat and dairy products. The only treatment for Celiac disease is 100% avoidance of gluten. Ingesting even small traces of it can lead to uncomfortable side effects. One of the hardest parts of following this diet is finding gluten-free alternatives to favorite foods that taste good and are good for you.
In honor of National Celiac Awareness Month I wanted to give away a gluten-free food that I find tasty. I recently discovered Mary’s Gone Crackers Pretzel Sticks and thought it’d be a perfect fit.
Many gluten-free products tend to be highly processed and made from refined grains. Fiber is one nutrient many can fall short on when eating gluten-free. Mary’s Gone Cracker products contain whole grains, such as quinoa, brown rice, amaranth and millet. A 1-ounce serving provides 550 milligrams of omega-3s, along with 4 grams each of fiber and protein, making them perfect for a mid-afternoon snack. They’re a great gluten-free substitute for traditional pretzels and even if you don’t eat gluten-free, you can still enjoy them.
Enter to Win
I am offering one lucky commenter 3 (7.5 ounce) bags of the Mary’s Gone Crackers pretzels –one bag in each flavor – Sea Salt, Curry and Chipotle Tomato.

We will demolish a bag of pretzels in no time at all, but the original crackers are a staple around here too. and the cookies are fantastic, do I have to choose just one favorite?

Mary’s Gone Crackers Sticks &Twigs Pretzels, Chipotle Tomato is my all time Favorite. These are a snack I want to keep available at all times. It is a crunchy (very, very crunchy to be clear), satisfying, noticeably spicy, nutritious alternative to basically any other snack. I was surprised by the spice (as in spicy spice). This definitely is not a flavor that has been tamed – and I am grateful for Mary’s boldness.
These sound wonderful!! I am just going gluten free without being tested. I want to eat healthier so winning this would help so much. My town is very limited to Gluten-free products. Thanks and look forward to eating these soon.
Todd Bliss Says:

OMG! Pretzels! I would so love some. I was diagnosed in 1989 with celiac and have had lots of trouble finding good, yummy foods and snacks. I also have trouble with seeds so many craqckers and gluten free snacks have seeds and nuts.
Sarah Davis Says:
I’d be so pleased to try these pretzels!
All 3 flavors sound delish! We just recently discovered our problem with gluten- so if I had to pick just one, I’d pick the ‘ordinary’ flavor- Sea Salt… I’ve really been missing baked goods! Thank you so much for the giveaway!
Lacey Houseman Says:
I haven’t tried them yet, but you bet that I’d love to! They all sound delish but the curry one sounds the best! Hope I win!! Thanks for the chance!

While hosting some California healthies for dinner, I felt compelled to purchase Mary’s Gone Crackers Herb…instead of my gluten filled wheat planks & squares. I suspiciously opened the box- could these be tasty? My hubby puts flax in his morning sludge shake…
Alisa Fox Says:
I’m a convert! Delish! Thanks, Mary! Now, can we get them into our kids’ school vending machines? Onward to other Mary products!
I love the original and herb Mary’s Crackers. Those are the only two I have tried because the store I buy them from does not have other kinds. I have been wanting to try the pretzels for a long time because those are the only ones I am able to eat since they do not contain oil. No store by me (way up here in the U.P.) sells the pretzels. I would like to try different dips with them, and experiment a little.
Toby Amidor Says:
Thanks for participating in this really fun giveaway!
The winner of the Mary’s Gone Crackers pretzels is…Alisa Fox! Congrats! Please keep an eye out for my email so I can have the pretzels mailed out to you.
Next week I’ll be giving away a GORGEOUS new foodie book that just hit the shelves. So be sure to come back to my blog for your chance to win.
Happy, healthy eating!
