Win This Chip & Dip Tray!

“Flip Flops” Chip and Dip Tray

The summer may be winding down, but there’s still time to squeeze in a few more barbecues. What better way to cook your goodies in a fabulous apron and serve them on a super fun serving dish?! Check out my tips for healthy entertaining, and then enter for your chance to win an apron and chip & dip tray from Designs by Lolita.

Healthy Entertaining
Who says a barbecue can’t be fun and good for you? Follow these tips to make your next party a deliciously healthy success.

  • Buy local and seasonal produce whenever possible to make an interesting and delicious menu. Incorporate fruits and vegetables wherever you can – appetizers, side dishes, dessert. You can even use fresh produce to make a refreshing signature cocktail.
  • Use fresh herbs and spices to flavor food. Keep things simple and light and don’t overpower dishes with heavy marinades. The less complicated a dish, the easier it is to prepare and it’s also more likely to appeal to the majority of your guests. Herbs and spices are also loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants – an added bonus for your guests!
  • Use healthy substitutions whenever possible. Swap out mayo for nonfat Greek yogurt in dips. Use oil-based dressings and marinades. Choose lean cuts of meat and add veggie-based dishes to the menu. You can also cut down sugar by 1/3 when baking without any noticeable difference.
  • Give your guests a doggie bag on the way out. Everyone loves leftovers, but there are some items you may not want lying around days after the party. Pack up cookies, cake or extra pasta salad and your guests will be grateful to bring home some treats.

Homeade black bean dip would look simply delicious in this bowl. My family eats it with all types of veggies and such. Even my
dad eats it with celery and carrot sticks, and he’s the meat and potatoe kind of guy. However my favourite is blue corn chips and homemade roasted red pepper edemae humous.
