Happy National Nutrition Month! If you think you’re seeing double, it’s possible! Kacy Cluxton Massie, MS, RD, LD has a dietitian twin sister who was featured on day 20. Kacy’s tip is all about why you should snack in order to maintain a healthy diet.

 

Snacking is Important

 

I want my clients to know that snacking is okay if it is done with a more whole foods approach. Fruit is a fast food. I always encourage incorporating fruit into snack time and adding a healthy protein to help with satiety. Snacks are helpful so that you don’t get too hungry and overeat at your next meal. Remember to keep nutrition simple and not to over think it but be prepared by planning ahead. Always have a variety of fruit on your grocery list but keep in mind what is feasible for your family to eat. Fruit can seem expensive, especially if you are throwing it away due to spoilage.
