With an emphasis on cooking styles from the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, the Mediterranean Diet emphasizes eating plenty of healthy fats, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish and red wine. Good fats like extra virgin olive oil, fatty fish, and nuts are encouraged. on the diet because of their high omega-3 content.. Studies have shown that incorporating these foods into your diet could help lower the risk for heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease.
The recipes below include many Mediterranean diet friendly foods, such as extra virgin olive oil, chickpeas, salmon, and lentils. Plus, these recipes are RDN approved!
