Win These Gourmè Mists!

During summer, I love making fresh salads and grilling up veggies, chicken and fish. What I don’t like to do is drown my food in bottled dressings, which can be highly processed and contain added sugar and salt. Instead, I’ve found several ways to add flavor to my summer goodies without many calories and additives, including using Gourmè Mists (enter to win your own gift pack at the end of this post!).

Healthy Dressings
Whenever possible, I enjoy making my own salad dressings—it’s quite simple. Start with an oil of your choice (like olive), an acid (like vinegar, lemon or lime juice) and season with fresh or dried herbs and spices. What can sabotage any dressing is oil overload. One tablespoon of any oil contains 120 calories. If you use ½ cup of oil in your dressing, you just added 960 calories! Even if it serves 4, that’s still 240 calories of pure fat (just to top your salad!).

Recently Gourmè Mist sent me some samples of their oil and vinegar misters. I was pleasantly surprised by how simple their ingredient list was and how easily they help control calories.

About Gourmè Mist
Gourmè Mist has oil and vinegar misters with just 5 calories per serving. While the misters spray like aerosol, they’re in a non-aerosol bottle and are free of any alcohol or chemicals. All the misters are also gluten-free. Since each continuous mist is pre-set, it’s easy to control how many calories you add to your food.

The misters are a great alternative to butter and can be used on food directly or to coat baking sheets, pans and cooking utensils. Choose from oils, which come in Organic Extra Virgin Olive oil, Natural Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Organic Canola Oil or vinegars, which come in Balsamic, Balsamic + Raspberry and Balsamic + Pomegranate.

For July 4th week, I rented a house in the Jersey Shore with 19 other family members and everyone went wild for the Pomegranate flavor. We used it as a dressing for the green salad that went along with our nightly family barbecue.

What a great idea! I always use a cooking brush to brush the olive oil on my veggies before roasting or grilling, this would save so much time!
