If you have diabetes, you need to pay close attention to where you go in order to get diet information and lifestyle support. The wrong information can lead to a loss of blood sugar control, which can be detrimental to your health. Luckily, Fit2Me is a free website created by AstraZeneca, who is committed to the long-term health of adults living with type 2 diabetes. Here’s an inside look into the Fit2Me website.
What is Fit2Me
This customized program allows those with type 2 diabetes to create a personalized plan based on likes and dislikes. According to the American Diabetes Association, it’s important for people with type 2 diabetes to focus on diet and lifestyle modifications, which isn’t always easy to manage. Fit2Me focuses on 4 key areas of diabetes management to help people make lifestyle adjustments fit naturally into their routine. The 4 areas include:
- Food: The recipe database with over 10,000 diabetic-friendly recipes based on the criteria set forth by the American Diabetes Association. Use it to find a single meal or to create a weekly meal plan.
- Activity: A video library of more than 500 physical activities and focused exercises, most which can be found on video with step-by-step instructions.
- Support Team: Each person is assigned a digital coach, whose tailored responses help plan and celebrate successes. There are also interactive games and opportunities to win prizes.
- Treatment Support: The website offers treatment and appointment reminders, A1C and blood sugar trackers, and a personalized treatment kit with information about type 2 diabetes and treatment options.
Fit2Me has also been well received by the diabetes community, including those living with type 2 diabetes and professionals. Since its launch in October 2014, Fit2Me has attracted 1.2 million visitors. Additionally, Fit2Me users are visiting the doctor 35-percent more frequently.
