One of my go-to ingredients is 100% Pomegranate Juice as I find it to be extremely versatile in the kitchen. Of course I love to sip it, but sometimes I also add it into dishes I whip up in the kitchen. Here are 5 of my favorite ways to use 100% Pomegranate Juice and why I make sure to include it in my healthy eating plan.

The Nutrition Low Down
As a registered dietitian, 100% Pomegranate Juice is one that I feel good about sipping and recommending. Each 8 fluid ounce bottle of 100% Pomegranate Juice contains the juice from two whole pomegranates and nothing else- no added sugars or artificial ingredients. It’s also a good source of potassium which is a mineral most folks don’t get enough of. Plus, it packs a polyphenol punch. A preliminary in vitro study at UCLA suggests that 100% pomegranate juice has, on average, more antioxidant potency than other commonly consumed fruit juices (like orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice and grape juice) and polyphenol-touting beverages including red wine, green tea and acai.

So what are my 5 favorite ways to use 100% Pomegranate juice?

#1: Smoothies
Quick and easy as a breakfast or snack, I love adding 100% Pomegranate Juice to my smoothies. Plus, my kids keep begging me for more and I trust my three kids as my best test tasters. Believe me, they’ll tell me if one of my recipes doesn’t meet their standards. Here is the recipe:

1½ cups unsweetened frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or a mix)
½ cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
½ cup 100% Pomegranate Juice
1 date

Combine the berries, yogurt, juice, and date in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and serve.

#2: Smoothie Bowls
If I want to make my smoothie into a meal, I can pour the smoothie recipe above into a soup bowl and then top with slivered almonds, sunflower seeds, sliced banana, and POM POMS Fresh Pomegranate Arils (if in season). The toppings add healthy fat and protein, along with even more potassium.

#3: Hummus
My mother is Israeli and hummus was always a staple in my house. For a creative spin on my favorite dip and condiment, I added 100%Pomegranate Juice to the mix and the results were delicious!

#4: Glaze
To get a pomegranate glaze cook 100% Pomegranate Juice in a small saucepan over low heat until the volume of the juice is halved. The result is a thick, syrup-like glaze that can be used on chicken, pork, grain salads, or vegetables.

#5: Zero Guilt Spritzer
I don’t keep soda in my house, but when my kids feel like some extra fizz on a special occasion (think Valentine’s Day or New Year’s) I’ll whip up a virgin spritzer with 100% Pomegranate Juice and seltzer. For an extra fun twist, I’ll put it in a champagne glass and sprinkle a few POM POMS Fresh Pomegranate Arils (if in season).
